Samir Nasri Says He Wants to Play in MLS After Leaving Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri says he’s interested in playing for a Major League Soccer team after he leaves Manchester City, and before he finishes his playing career at Olympique Marseille (OM), the club where he began his professional career.

Quoted in L’Equipe newspaper, Nasri said:

“Clearly, economic reality stops me from thinking about playing at OM right now.

“In the future, I don’t know yet. I would like to discover the MLS. I love American culture.”

Could Nasri end up playing at New York City FC, the new Major League Soccer team that will launch in 2015? That would seem like the most logical move for 26-year-old Nasri. His current contract at Manchester City runs out during the summer of 2015.

Nasri is currently under contract at Manchester City, where the French footballer is focused on improving his game and becoming more consistent.

“I had a talk with Manuel Pellegrini. We’ll see what happens.

“He came to me the first day and told me that he was counting on me, that I would be an important player, that I was going to play.

“We’ll see – I’m not worrying about it. If I’m good, the coach will play me. He’s just arrived and he has to get results.”
