Robinho Under Investigation For Alleged Involvement In The Group Sexual Assault Of A Teenager

According to the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, AC Milan striker Robinho (who is currently on loan at Santos FC in Brazil) is under investigation for his alleged involvement in the group sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.

The teenager reported the attack six months after it took place, the publication stated, adding that there were “some doubts” as to her account.

The alleged crime, in which the Brazilian woman was abused by several men, took place in Milan during January of 2013 when Robinho was playing for AC Milan.

The teenager met the former Real Madrid and Manchester City striker in a restaurant, where he was having dinner with his wife and several players, Corriere della Sera reported.

After Robinho’s wife went home for the night, the striker and his friends allegedly took the young woman to an unknown location and sexually assaulted her, according to the Italian publication.

The alleged assault is being investigated by Milan prosecutor, Stefano Ammendola.

During the summer, Ammendola requested the arrest of Robinho, who has returned to Brazil to play on loan for Santos FC.

That request was denied by a judge, Alessandra Simion, partly on the grounds that the player has no previous criminal convictions but also because he had left Italy.

Prosecutors have interviewed Robinho and the striker strongly denied the accusations.

The now 30-year-old Brazilian striker was previously arrested in 2009 for an alleged sexual assault on a woman in a nightclub in Leeds when he was playing for Manchester City.

At the time Robinho strenuously denied any wrongdoing and the charges were dropped by the West Yorkshire Police a few months later.
