Premiership Countdown: 20 Days to Go

It’s a new week in the English Premier League, and the transfer talks are beginning to pick up pace. So far post-World Cup, the biggest headline has been Ruud van Nistelrooy’s departure to Real Madrid. Benni McCarthy’s move from Porto to Blackburn was a pleasant surprise meanwhile.

But now it looks likely that United will sign Michael Carrick from Spurs as long as he passes his medical. Carrick, who’s more of a passing midfielder, could be joined this week by Marcos Senna from Villarreal. If so, this would be a fantastic signing for United. Senna would be the much-needed holding, tackling midfielder and could become the fulcrum of the side.

In order to succeed this season, United has to keep its fingers crossed that Chelsea won’t ruin the party and swoop in for an offer to capture Senna. The plot thickens.
