Premier League Sunday, Gameweek 4: Open Thread

Instead of the typical Sunday featuring games with the “Big Four” (or is it just “Big Three,” or “Big Two” now?), today offers us a chance to watch some of the clubs who often go overlooked. Namely Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion.

The early kick-off features a match from Carrow Road with Norwich City against West Brom. Both clubs are looking for their first win of the season. And both clubs, despite their lowly positions in the league, have played well this season. Norwich have been quite impressive, while West Brom had an unlucky first few fixtures against teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea. This should be an entertaining game to watch with two teams that like to play open, attacking football.

The second and final match of the day comes to from Craven Cottage where Fulham hosts Blackburn Rovers. This is another fixture featuring two sides who are near the bottom of the table. Both are desperate to win, for different reasons. Blackburn manager Steve Kean needs to keep his job. Fulham manager Martin Jol wants to push up the table where most Fulham supporters believe they belong. That’s a recipe for a high-spirited open game with a nervy start followed by a few goals or more.

Last. but not least, on this tenth year anniversary of the tragedy that happened in the United States when so many people lost their lives, I’d like to pay tribute to those who died (almost 3,000) that fateful day.
