Premier League Saturday: Oct. 22, 2011

Wolves against Swansea is the early kick-off today, and what a game it should be. Mick McCarthy’s side haven’t won in their last five games, while Swansea haven’t won away all season. Something has got to give today.

Wolves have made one change to their line-up, and they start with a 4-4-2 with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake starting up front. Swansea’s only change is playing Mark Gower instead of Wayne Routledge. Gower is more defensively minded.

This is Swansea’s best chance of the season so far to pick up points away from home. Thus far, they’ve had a very difficult schedule of away games having played Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Norwich (so it’s harsh, but true, to say that they’ve got the worst away record in the league this season; the fixture computer hasn’t been kind to them). On paper, Norwich was the only easy game, but anyone who has seen the Canaries play this season, knows how well they play (in fact, they’re the strongest of the three newly-promoted sides in my opinion). While Wolves isn’t an easy ride, the side is in turmoil so today presents the best chance for the Swans to get a win.

In other matches today, Liverpool takes on Norwich in the late game (my prediction is that Norwich City is going to cause a massive surprise with a shock win). As for the 10am ET games, Newcastle United plays Wigan, Aston Villa is against West Brom, and Bolton take on Sunderland.
