MLS Week 5 Open Thread

Weekend five is upon us and as the U.S. deals with a nasty line of storms moving through the Eastern seaboard and Rocky Mountains, it’s a great weekend to stay inside and watch some soccer.  Saturday’s matches are good television: the first match see Eastern Conference leader Philadelphia hosting a Seattle team looking to find its groove.  Both Toronto FC and DC United look to build off their draws with the Galaxy to continue their climbs up the standings.  Vancouver hopes to win three points over the visiting Goats, who are just looking for positives to build upon.  Columbus, one of the worst offenses in the league, hosts one of the best (and one of the worst defenses) in Sporting Kansas City.  Finally on Saturday the Red Bulls look to get back on a winning track facing a San Jose team off to a good start on the year.

Sunday continues the action with the Telefutura match of the week in Chicago.  The Fire look to right the ship at home against a Galaxy team sans Donovan and Beckham that is looking for some offense.  After a successful home opener, Timber’s Army welcomes FC Dallas in what could be the best match of the weekend.  The final match of the weekend sees Houston hosting New England in an Eastern Conference showdown – something I am still not used to saying.

As usual, share your thoughts, observations, and opinions on this weekend’s matches.
