MLS Doubleheader: Colorado vs LA Galaxy & Houston vs Chicago: Open Thread

Several Major League Soccer matches are scheduled this evening across the United States and Canada, but two in particular are our focus tonight as they both are scheduled to be shown on nationwide US television.

The first match is Colorado Rapids against LA Galaxy, which is being televised on ESPN2 beginning at 7pm ET. Following that match, Houston plays Chicago Fire at 9pm ET on NBC Sports Network.

With Colorado having played more games than any other team in the Western Conference, and the Rapids still sitting outside a playoff spot, coach Óscar Pareja will want a home win tonight in the last game before the MLS All-Star Game.

For the LA Galaxy, it’s their last MLS game until two weeks from now, as the team will be competing in the 2013 International Champions Cup.

In the second nationally televised match of the night, Houston Dynamo have put together back-to-back wins for the first time since May 5-8, when they recorded consecutive shutout victories against the LA Galaxy and D.C. United – both of which came on the road. Meanwhile Chicago Fire put an emphatic end to a two-game losing streak, rolling to a 4-1 win against D.C. United on Saturday evening at Toyota Park, so they’ll be hoping for a another emphatic victory.
