Manchester (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Midfielder Michael Carrick is likely to miss Manchester United’s Champions League home game with Wolfsburg on Wednesday due to injury, manager Louis van Gaal revealed on Tuesday.
England international Carrick was one of four players who sat out training on Tuesday, along with Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo, who is also expected to miss out.

Defender Rojo has missed United’s last two games with a hamstring problem, but Carrick and Valencia started Saturday’s 3-0 win over Sunderland in the Premier League, with Herrera an unused substitute.
“I think Michael Carrick shall not play tomorrow (Wednesday),” Van Gaal told his pre-match press conference at Old Trafford.
“The other two (Herrera and Valencia), we have to wait and see. They have minor injuries so I don’t want to take any risks.”
Having lost 2-1 away to PSV Eindhoven in their opening Group B match two weeks ago, United will be looking for their first win of the campaign against Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg opened their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory at home against CSKA Moscow.
