Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur; predicted lineups and team news

Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur in a crunch clash on Sunday as the race for the Champions League places continues to gather pace.

The Red Devils will be looking to shake the disappointment of losing to Arsenal in the FA Cup last week and they start the game in fourth place, three points ahead of today’s opponents Spurs and with a much better goal difference too.

Tottenham on the other hand, have bounced back since losing to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup and have won the subsequent Premier League games against QPR and Swansea City. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will hope to secure a third consecutive victory at Old Trafford after beating United there for the last two seasons.

Victory for United here will strengthen their hold on fourth spot and will relieve the pressure on the manager Louis van Gaal. Defeat will see Spurs level on points with the hosts and blow the top four battle wide open and serious questions will be asked of the Dutch manager.

Robin van Persie is out for Manchester United after sustaining an ankle injury against Swansea in February while Angel Di Maria and Jonny Evans miss out due to a suspension. Marcus Rojo is also a doubt after picking up a knock in the defeat to Arsenal last Monday.

Tottenham have no injury worries going into this match which could see Pochettino field the same lineup from the Swansea game. Harry Kane is on fire and he will be hoping he can add to his 26 goal tally in all competitions this season.
