Luis Suarez resumes training and could be available to face Atletico Madrid

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez resumed first-team training this morning and could be available to face Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

The Uruguayan had been a doubt for the match after picking up a hamstring strain during his side’s 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich earlier this week. However, his participation during this morning’s training session signals that the striker is ready for Sunday’s trip to the Vicente Calderon.

It is now up to the club’s medical staff to give Suarez the “all-clear” to face Atletico.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, manager Luis Enrique said there had yet to be a decision as to whether Suarez would be included in the match day squad.

Suarez trained normally with the rest of the team. The session started with gentle jogging and a warm-up session followed by ball work. The squad left the training ground a little later than usual as Luis Enrique gave an extended analysis of Atletico Madrid ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

Barcelona can clinch their 23rd league title with a win at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday, while Atletico can secure third-place in La Liga with three points against the league leaders.

Programming note: Atletico Madrid against Barcelona will be shown LIVE on Sunday starting at 12:55pm EST on beIN SPORTS en español and fuboTV.
