Manchester United held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday evening in what was a lackluster game in Merseyside. The hosts who won the fixture 7-0 last season were expected to earn a comfortable win but they were far from their best in front of the home fans. Mo Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold came close to breaking the deadlock as Liverpool struggled to break open the United defense.
The Reds looked lackluster a shadow of their performance in recent weeks while United had a great opportunity to snatch three points but Rasmus Hojlund’s strike was well saved by Alisson. The result means that Jurgen Klopp’s side are second with 38 points, one behind Arsenal who come to Anfield next weekend.

Liverpool are in top form at the moment. Top of the table and unbeaten in their last five in the Premier League, The Reds also just wrapped up 1st place in Group E of the UEFA Europa League.
Mo Salah remains a force on the attack, as his 11 goals trail only the prolific Erline Haaland of Manchester City so far this season.
United, meanwhile, are not enjoying quite as rosy circumstances. Currently sitting seventh in the EPL, the Mancunians were also just bounced from the UEFA Champions League. They finished last in their group behind Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen, and Galatasaray, ending up with just 4 points.
