Juve sign Pjanic from Roma for 32m euros

Rome (AFP) – Bosnia international midfielder Miralem Pjanic has joined Juventus from Roma for 32 million euros ($36 million), the two clubs said on Monday.

The 26-year-old passed a medical on Monday before signing a five-year deal.

Juve’s sports director Beppe Marotta said the club had activated a release clause in Pjanic’s Roma contract.

Pjanic had told Roma last week he wanted to join Juve, the Italian champions.

“I’m telling you I’m ready to pay the 20% rights to authorise my transfer to the club buying my contract, in this case Juventus,” said Pjanic in a letter sent to Roma and published on their website on Saturday.

Italian media claim Pjanic has more than doubled his salary and will earn 4.5 million euros a season in Turin, compared to the 2 million euros he received in Rome.

Pjanic, who was brought up in Luxembourg, joined Roma from Lyon in 2011. He has scored 11 goals in 68 international appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Roma finished third in Serie A last season while Juve won the title for the fifth time in a row.
