Jack Wilshere Could Be Out Until February: Bad Day Gets Worse for Arsenal

What is it about Arsenal? In just one 24-hour news cycle on Monday, we learned that Robin van Persie didn’t want to discuss signing a new contract at the club, setting off alarm bells around Emirates Stadium after the recent Fabregas and Nasri episodes. On top of that bad news was the injury update regarding Jack Wilshere. The midfielder would be out until Christmas. And then came the stinging news late Monday that Wilshere may be out until as late as February.

Out of all of the news, though, the one about Robin van Persie is the most disturbing. His contract runs out at Arsenal in 2013, and the Gunners will want to avoid a similar situation as to what happened with Nasri and Fabregas. Needless to say, van Persie has the leverage in this situation. And based on how he’s the one that’s carrying the weight for Arsenal this season, Wenger and Kroenke need to give the Dutch striker everything they have to make him stay at the Emirates.
