Hernanes completes €11 million switch from Inter Milan to Juventus

Brazilian playmaker Hernanes has joined Juventus from Inter Milan for 11 million euros.

The 30-year-old forged his reputation as one of the most accurate passers in Serie A during his four years with Lazio. He left the capital in January 2014 to sign a four-and-a-half year contract with Inter, for whom he would make 50 league appearances, scoring seven goals.

But reigning Italian champions Juve, who have lost the first two games of their latest title defence, have now secured Hernanes on a three-year contract.

A statement published on juventus.com confirmed the amount paid to Inter could increase by two million euros “should certain sporting targets stipulated in the agreement be achieved before June 30, 2018.”

Juve have made their worst ever start to a top-flight campaign and critics have pointed to a lack of both bite and creativity in midfield following the summer departures of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, to New York City FC and Bayern Munich respectively.

Juventus also announced the signing Marseille’s Mario Lemina before Italy’s Monday transfer deadline, with defenders Mauricio Island Paolo de Ceglie moving to the Ligue Un club.
