Harry Kane has been one of the most prolific strikers of the last decade, but until now, silverware had eluded him despite multiple close calls. That changed on Sunday, as Bayern Munich secured the 2024–25 Bundesliga title following Bayer Leverkusen’s slip-up, ending Kane’s long-standing title drought.

With three games remaining in the season, Bayern entered Matchday 32 with 75 points. A win against RB Leipzig on Saturday would have sealed the title outright, but a dramatic ending put celebrations on hold.

Bayern led 3–2 late in the match, and even the suspended Kane—out due to yellow-card accumulation—came down from the stands to join his teammates on the pitch. However, Leipzig’s Yusuf Poulsen scored a 95th-minute equalizer, spoiling the moment.

That left the door open for Leverkusen, who needed a win over SC Freiburg on Sunday to stay in the title race. But despite a spirited effort, Xabi Alonso’s side managed only a 2–2 draw at Europa-Park Stadion—handing the championship to Bayern and delivering Kane his first major club trophy.

Kane finally lifts a trophy

While Kane has racked up countless individual accolades, including Golden Boots in the Premier League, Bundesliga, and the 2018 World Cup, a team trophy at the senior level had remained just out of reach—until now.

The English striker had previously finished as a runner-up in the EFL Cup twice (2014–15 and 2020–21) and in the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League with Tottenham Hotspur. He also reached two European Championship finals with England, losing in 2020 and 2024. His first season with Bayern saw more frustration, falling short in the DFL-Supercup.

Kane’s only previous title was a youth-level win: the 2010 Torneio Internacional do Algarve with England’s U17 squad. But after 603 professional appearances and over 47,000 minutes played, the 2024–25 Bundesliga championship finally places a senior-level trophy in his collection—and ends one of the most high-profile title droughts in modern soccer.
