Graham Alexander Reaches 1,000 Games as a Professional

Yesterday against Swansea, Burnley’s Graham Alexander became only the second player in the history of English Football to make 1,000 professional appearances.

In a career that has spanned twenty years Alexander has played at both right back and midfield and been the epitome of a model professional maintaining incredible levels of fitness that have allowed the Scotsman to play well into his late 30’s.

Since starting his career in the late 1980’s as a trainee at Scunthorpe Alexander has played for four clubs making over 100 appearances for each.

Having spent the bulk of his career at Preston North End but it has been the move to rivals Burnley that will define the achievements of a long career. At Burnley Alexander became oldest player to make his Premier League debut at the age of 37 and the third oldest goal scorer in the league’s history.

He is currently club captain at Turfmoor and is still an integral part of the team despite his advancing years, congratulations to Graham, I hope that he still has a few years left in him yet.
