Germany midfielder Toni Kroos will join Real Madrid after the World Cup is over, ending speculation regarding whether the player will remain with Bayern Munich or not.
Bayern Munich Honorary President Franz Beckenbauer let the “cat out of the bag” when he disclosed:
“In a career there is also a future. And if it is an experience abroad, going to a club like Real Madrid is priceless.
“As honorary president of Bayern I regret his departure. If Toni Kroos leaves, we have lost a player of absolutely world-class.”
Kroos rejected a new deal with Bayern, and said that he would announce his decision after the World Cup concluded. But Bild revealed the details, stating that Kroos will sign a five-year contract at Real Madrid until the end of 2018/19 season for wages of £4.7million per season – an increase of £800,000 on the midfielder’s current wages at Bayern Munich.
The news of Kroos heading to Real Madrid will come as a blow to Manchester United fans who were hoping that the talismanic German would be heading to Old Trafford.
