Friday's Bundesliga Review: Hamburg Steal The Win At Hopeless Gladbach

Trochowski Strike Saves Hamburg's Blushes Against Gladbach.

Gladbach’s terrible run of losses stretches to five after another defeat this afternoon, this time against a struggling Hamburg side. Dutch winger Eljero Elia, who has been the subject of some intense transfer rumors, put the away side in front just a minute after the break. Gladbach didn’t shy away though, and got their equalizer two minutes later through Igor De Camargo.

Unfortunately for Gladbach, German international Piotr Trochowski condemned them to defeat when his free-kick whipped past Bailly with 20 minutes of time left to play. The result puts Hamburg back in the running for a Europa League spot, while Gladbach remain dead bottom with just ten points after seventeen matches.

Neither side has made the start to this Bundesliga season that they would have been hoping to make, and if things don’t turn around soon changes are going to have to be made. When Armin Veh took the helm at Hamburg HSV fans met him with suspicion, and it looks like their early worries have been vilified.

Michael Frontzeck isn’t getting results, but I can’t really see who would at this point. They’ve got to make a change, though. Relegation isn’t an option and if Frontzeck can’t lead Gladbach to safety, the higher-ups better start looking elsewhere for their savior.
