Wednesday’s friendly between USA and Mexico in San Antonio, Texas averaged 806,000 viewers and a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating on FOX Sports 1.
The English-language broadcast featured commentary duo John Strong and Alexi Lalas with a studio team that included Rob Stone, Stu Holden, Warren Barton and Eric Wynalda.
While FOX Sports 1 had more than 800,000 viewers, the game drew nearly 2.8 million viewers on UniMas, the Spanish-language sports network. The USA-Mexico match was also televised on Univision Deportes, but those numbers weren’t available as of press time.
The viewing number for the game on FOX Sports 1 was greater than the NHL Stanley Cup game between Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators.
The 806,000 number on FOX Sports 1 compares to 261,000 who watched the recent Switzerland-USA friendly (ESPN2) and 400,000 who watched Denmark-USA (ESPN). Both of those games were televised during the afternoon on the East Coast.
