Chelsea will be playing friendlies in Seattle, Washington DC and New York this summer, according to Chelsea In America, the official Chelsea supporters group in the United States.
No dates have been confirmed, but the tour dates are expected to be mid- to late-July. In addition to Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will also be playing friendlies in the United States this summer.
Exactly which Chelsea side will turn up and who will be managing the squad won’t be known until this summer. It’s possible that the squad could look quite different than in previous years when Chelsea has played in the United States. Chelsea veterans such as Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba seem to be on the outs, while the future of manager Andre Villas-Boas is up in the air.
Plus, some of the Chelsea players may not be available for the US summer tour due to playing in the Euro 2012 tournament (June 8-July 1), and/or the Olympics (July 26-August 12).
Nevertheless, it’ll still be a great honor to see Chelsea play another summer in the United States.
If you live in the Seattle, DC or New York areas, what are your thoughts about Chelsea playing this summer? Will you be planning on buying tickets? Share your feedback in the comments section below.
