Chelsea suspend three fans for alleged involvement in Paris train incident

Chelsea Football Club have suspended three fans for their alleged involvement in the racial incident which took place in a Paris train station earlier this week.

Following the club’s hard-fought 1-1 draw with French champions, Paris Saint-Germain, a shocking video went viral showing a group of Chelsea fans preventing a black man from boarding a train.

As the man attempted to make his way on to the carriage, he was forcefully shoved back on to the platform several times. The Chelsea fans also appeared to be threatening the individual, before they began signing: “We’re racist, we’re racist and that’s the way we like it.”

The actions of the individuals in the video was met with immediate and universal condemnation.

Shortly after the story was released, Chelsea issued a statement professing that the club would “support any criminal action against those involved” and would issue banning orders should any evidence point to the involvement of one of the club’s season ticket holders.

It is understood that Chelsea believe they have since identified a number of people from the footage and have taken steps towards punishing them.

Three people have been suspended from Stamford Bridge and will be banned permanently should there be enough evidence against them.

An official statement from the Premier League club’s website reads: “Chelsea Football Club is suspending three people from Stamford Bridge as a result of investigations into the incident on the Paris Metro on Tuesday evening.”

“If it is deemed there is sufficient evidence of their involvement in the incident, the club will issue banning orders for life.”

“We have received substantial information to date following our witness appeal and we are grateful to the many Chelsea supporters who have provided information so far.”

“Our investigations are ongoing and we would request any further information is sent to customer.services@chelseafc.com.”

“We also continue to cooperate fully with the Metropolitan and Paris police forces who lead the ongoing criminal investigation.”
