Barcelona's Jordi Alba ruled out for 10 days after suffering hamstring injury

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has been ruled out for ten days after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty for Spain.

The injury took place during the Euro 2016 Qualifier between Spain and Ukraine on Friday – which Spain won by a score of 1-0.

The left-back was substituted in the 76th minute after feeling pain during a run down the left wing. Immediately after the contest, Alba was taken for tests with the extent of his injury being revealed early this morning.

A statement on Barcelona’s official website reads: “Tests performed by the FC Barcelona medical services on Saturday morning revealed that Jordi Alba has a grade 1 injury to the adductor muscle in his right leg.

“The hamstring injury means he’ll be out of action for approximately ten days.”

Alba will now miss Barcelona’s upcoming league fixture against Celta Vigo, and will likely be a doubt for La Blaugrana’s next match against Almeria.

The 26-year-old is expected to return to Barcelona’s lineup in time for their Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain on April 15.
