Aston Villa have said they are "aware of the photographs circulating" of Jack Grealish after the midfielder was pictured apparently drunk on holiday in Tenerife.

Several photographs of the 19-year-old lying on the floor were posted on Twitter by Briony King, who described the footballer as being "paralytic".

King later claimed she had no idea who the person in the photographs was when they were originally put up on Sunday, after receiving a number of responses through social media.

Villa announced in a statement they will now have talks with Grealish over the incident, saying: "The club is aware of the photographs of Jack Grealish currently circulating.

"We will be meeting with the player but any action will remain an internal matter. There will be no further comment from the club."

It is not the first time the 19-year-old has been controversially pictured. In April, Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood spoke to him after a snap – taken in 2014 – emerged of the midfielder apparently inhaling legal high nitrous oxide.

"I explained to him his behaviour can't be tolerated by the football club, we can't condone that behaviour," Sherwood said at the time.

"It doesn't matter how young he is, he is now in a responsible position as a professional footballer. He's got to make sure it won't happen again, he's assured me it won't."

The midfielder made 24 appearances for Villa last season, becoming a regular under Sherwood, and helped them survived in the Barclays Premier League and reach the FA Cup final, which they lost 4-0 to Arsenal last month.

Grealish's international future also remains in the air with England courting the starlet, who has previously represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level.

Meanwhile, Micah Richards is expected to complete his move to Villa within the next 48 hours.

The defender, 26, is set for a medical ahead of becoming Sherwood's first summer signing on a free transfer.

Richards is out of contract having been released by Manchester City following a season-long loan spell at Fiorentina.
