Ander Herrera wants to stay with Manchester United for a long time

Ander Herrera is happy with life at Manchester United and wants to stay with the club for a “long time”.

The midfielder joined United from Athletic Bilbao after completing a £29 million move in the summer.

The 25-year-old told United Review that he was always happy at the club and felt lucky to be a part of its history, despite struggling to secure a regular spot in Louis van Gaal’s starting eleven during his first six months in England.

Over the past several weeks, Herrera has featured regularly in the first-team and has played a key role in United’s late season surge towards Champions League qualification.

This past weekend, the Spaniard bagged a brace against Aston Villa, bringing his season tally to seven goals and five assists in all competitions.

Speaking to United Review, Herrera pledged his long term future to the club and hailed the team’s chemistry under the leadership over Louis van Gaal.

“I’m very happy. Even when I was not playing, I was also happy. I am at Manchester United. I feel lucky to be here,” Herrera said.

“It’s my dream to be here for a long time because I am in the right team, in the right league and in the right country. I want to stay at the club for many years to come.

“I think [we at] Manchester United are always helping each other to adapt and to feel like we’re at home.

“I feel really good at United and I hope to stay here for a long time.

“The manager has to decide who is playing or not but we have to respect always the decision he makes. The manager wants the best for the team, the best for us and we have to follow him always.”

United currently sit in third place and are preparing for their biggest challenge of the season.

On Sunday, they will square-off against Manchester City at Old Trafford, before traveling to London on the following weekend to take on first place Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
