Unless I missed something…(entirely possible)
20 states have no MLS, USL-1, USL-2 or PDL team, representing 15% of the 2007 US population.
California has the most combined teams with 11, followed by Texas with 10. They’re the 2 most populous states.
The most populous states without a team are Arizona, Wisconsin and Alabama.

Can anyone tell me how effective the USL’s Super Y and Super-20 leagues are in developing players?

5 new clubs were admitted to the US Development Academy Program, bringing the total to 79 for 2009.
We’re getting there… slowly.

The US Men’s U-20’s are grouped with Germany, Cameroon and South Korea in this fall’s U-20 World Cup. A tough group.

Did anyone notice that MLS clubs started play in the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup? The Rapids eliminated the Galaxy on April 7 in a shootout after playing to a scoreless draw. Next up, defending champion DC United face FC Dallas on April 22.
