Premier League Sunday Gameweek 17: Open Thread

Two matches are scheduled today in the Premier League, both of which have implications on the top of the table.

In the early kick-off, Southampton hosts Tottenham Hotspur. Under manager Tim Sherwood, Tottenham will be hoping to bounce back after the disappointing defeat mid-week against West Ham United in the League Cup. Three points and a convincing performance will be what Spurs supporters are hoping for, but Saints fans will feel that their club can make another statement today with a strong performance.

In the other match, high-flying Everton take on a Swansea side who are suffering from injuries (Michu, Nathan Dyer and Michel Vorm are out). As a Swansea supporter, I don’t feel confident about my team’s chances for this match at all. My prediction: Swansea 0-3 Everton.

Here’s today’s TV schedule for soccer fans in the United States:

Southampton vs Tottenham, 8:30am, NBC Sports Network
Swansea City vs Everton, 11am, NBC Sports Network

Starting line-ups:

Swansea: Tremmel, Tiendalli, Chico, Williams (c), Davies, Canas, Shelvey, de Guzman, Routledge, Hernandez, Bony.

Everton: Howard, Coleman, Oviedo, Jagielka, Distin, McCarthy, Barry, Mirallas, Pienaar, Barkley, Lukaku
