Galaxy transfer Kamara to Shenzhen

Los Angeles (AFP) – Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy said Thursday they have transferred Norwegian international Ola Kamara to Shenzhen FC of the Chinese Super League for a reported fee of $3.5 million.

A brief statement from the Galaxy did not name a fee, but MLSsoccer.com, citing an anonymous source, said Shenzhen paid the Galaxy $3.5 million and that Kamara inked a three-year contract with the club.

“This decision will be mutually beneficial to both our club and Ola,” Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese said.

“Ola wanted to pursue opportunities elsewhere, and we worked to complete a move that will give us options to strengthen our roster moving forward.”

Kamara, 29, was acquired by the Galaxy in a trade with MLS outfit Columbus Crew prior to the 2018 season. He made 31 appearances for Los Angeles, scoring 14 goals in the regular season.

In 90 career MLS regular-season matches over three seasons he scored 48 goals.

According to the MLS Players Association, Kamara made $925,000 in 2018.
