Late yesterday, Spain’s premier radio network Cadena SER broke news that Real Madrid would not be offering midfielder Sami Khedira a new contract. Speculation is the club was unhappy with the German international for failing to renew his contract with the Spanish giants last season.
Cadena SER also reported that officials at the La Liga side believed the midfielder has “lost importance in the Real Madrid dressing room”, and the club has an agreement in place for next summer with another European club for a replacement in its midfield. That player is believed to be Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.
Now, the Spanish radio program El Larguero is reporting that Sami Khedira has signed a pre-contract deal with Bayern Munich. The show revealed that Pep Guardiola has given his approval for the agreement which will see the midfielder join the German giants with a substantial increase in salary.
Robert Lewandowsi and Mario Gotze signed similar agreements with the Bundesliga champions while they were still playing for Borussia Dortmund. It now appears that Khedira has followed suit with his national team teammates.
The German international was once a fixture in Real Madrid’s starting eleven under former manager Jose Mourinho. But the combination of injury and the club’s wealth of attacking options (Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, James Rodriguez and Isco) have left Khedira on the outside looking in.
