Swansea City’s Michu has been called up to the Spain national team after David Villa pulled out of the squad due to an injury.
Michu, who can play either as a striker or attacking midfielder, will join up with the Spanish national team on Tuesday in preparation for his country’s matches against Belarus and Georgia on October 11 and 15 respectively.
Michu will be hoping that he’ll finally be able to earn his first cap for Spain. His nation are on the precipice of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. They currently sit in first place in Group I in World Cup qualifying in Europe. If Michu gets an opportunity to play for Spain and impresses, it’ll increase his chances of making Spain’s World Cup 2014 squad.
