Manchester United midfielder/forward Wayne Rooney is a doubt for the New Year’s Day match against Tottenham Hotspur after not training on Tuesday. Rooney is currently experiencing a groin injury that could rule him out of the Wednesday match at Old Trafford (scheduled for 12:30pm ET on NBCSN, for viewers in the United States).
In addition to Rooney being a doubt due to injury, Robin van Persie is still out with a thigh injury but the striker has returned to training.
During today’s Manchester United press conference, manager David Moyes said:
“Robin is not quite ready, we don’t think. He is not too far away. With Wayne we need to wait and see. He has not trained today so we will need to assess it tomorrow.”
Manchester United may have to rely on Javier Hernandez and/or Danny Welbeck as the attacking options for David Moyes.
