A Manchester United supporter in Kenya committed suicide on Saturday after his favorite team lost against Newcastle United, according to a report from Africa.
Local police reported that the United supporter John Macharia jumped from the seventh floor of a building, and died instantly.
The police chief told local radio:
“I confirm that we received the news of a young man who could not stand to see his Manchester United team lose, and instead decided he can die for the sake of a team that is miles far away in Europe.
“We are treating this matter as a case and since this is not the first time we have received such cases, I wish to advice football fans in our country to rather support Harambee Stars than those teams in England who does not recognize them.”
Our condolences go out to the family and friends of John Macharia.
Just last month, an Arsenal fan lost his house in a bet with a Manchester United supporter when the two soccer fans placed a bet in Uganda.
