Arsenal are close to finalizing their second transfer signing of the summer transfer window with the return of holding midfielder Mathieu Flamini to the Emirates Stadium.
Flamini, who played for Arsenal from 2004-08, helped the Gunners win the 2005 FA Cup and 2004 FA Community Shield as well as reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2006. However, Flamini left to join AC Milan in 2008 after Arsenal were unwilling to increase his wages.
After joining Milan, here’s what Flamini said about Arsenal in 2009:
“Arsenal are in my heart and they will be in my heart for ever.
“I will always be an Arsenal fan and leaving was not easy.”
Flamini, 29, is currently a free agent after being released by AC Milan.
Arsenal’s other signing so far this summer was Yaya Sanogo, who was signed on a free transfer from Ligue 2. Meanwhile, the Gunners are interested in signing Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria.
