Saturday’s London derby between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur will be the first Premier League game ever shown in US movie theaters.
The 10am ET/7am PT kickoff featuring the Hammers against Spurs will be available in 33 select movie theaters nationwide in a deal between NBC Sports and Fathom Events.
While Saturday’s 10am ET game on NBCSN is Leicester against Everton, soccer fans can watch West Ham against Spurs on giant movie screens. It could be the start of a new trend among soccer fans, who want to watch games in their local movie house. As opposed to a pub, the movie theater offers a family-friendly atmosphere, a better audio experience and the opportunity to see matches on “the silver screen.” Plus, in select locations, an English-style breakfast will be served.
More details about the Premier League experience at movie theaters can be found on Fathom’s website.
Fathom will broadcast one 10am ET/7am PT Premier League match every Saturday through the fall season (except during the dreaded international break).
