Video: Hakimi scores great opening goal in the Champions League final for PSG against Inter

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan faced off in the 2024–25 UEFA Champions League final with the trophy on the line, and it was PSG who struck first. Amid a buzzing atmosphere at the Allianz Arena, Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring to give the French side an early lead.

PSG dominated early possession, and in the 12th minute, Vitinha threaded a perfect through ball into the box for Désiré Doué, who delivered a pinpoint assist for Hakimi to slot home a close-range finish—leaving Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer with no chance.

It was a special moment for Hakimi—not just for breaking the deadlock in the Champions League final, but because of the opponent he scored against. The defender joined Inter from Real Madrid for the 2020–21 season and was one of the team’s standout performers. After an impressive year in Italy, PSG signed him the following summer. Out of respect for his former club, Hakimi chose not to celebrate the goal.
