Argentina battle against Bosnia and Herzegovina today in Group F in a big test, to be played at Estádio Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro. With Argentina looking to go all the way in the tournament, positivity surrounding La Albiceleste (Argentina’s nickname meaning ‘the white and sky-blue’) is at a peak. The popular drinks company Coca-Cola has released a motivational video in the lead up to their opener.
The video shows the life of two people, a man and woman, and their love for the Argentina National Team. Going through the stages of life, it shows flashes of the Argentinian side playing, showing us how Argentina and futbol are the main points of everyone’s lives.
A narrator talks throughout the video with powerful sounding music also being broadcasted. The man and woman are together in the video, but shows that not only do they love each other but they love their team.
Argentina are entering the World Cup on fantastic form, losing just one match in qualifying, a 3-2 defeat to Uruguay, which meant little to the team having already qualified. They have won five, drawn four and scored 21 goals in the process and only conceded ten goals. This is a team going into the competition full of confidence.
The end of the video ends with Argentinian fans dropping a flag of the country with the words ‘Argentina sos mi vida’ meaning ‘Argentina is my life’ written in the middle. The passionate video promotes that futbol isn’t “just a game, it’s a way of life.”
