Shinji Kagawa Reportedly Transferring To Borussia Dortmund

As Louis van Gaal settles in as Manchester United’s newest manager, he has made it very clear that he is interested in selling a number of players. Shinji Kagawa is on the list of players for sale, and the Japanese midfielder has received interest from Valencia and his former club, Borussia Dortmund. Other clubs have taken interest in the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, but his former club seems most interested in buying Kagawa back from the English giants according to the German publication Der Westen.

According to Der Westen the personal terms have been agreed upon, the rest of the deal is up to Manchester United but a permanent deal is likely to be decided upon before the transfer window closes.

Kagawa joined Manchester United in 2010 from Dortmund on a four-year deal, but he has not lived up to his speculated potential at Old Trafford. A return to the Bundesliga might be a clever move, considering that he played his best career football with the German powerhouse. He played 49 times with Dortmund and scored 21 goals, compared to 38 appearances for United and only six goal to his name.

Between various injuries and a lack of impressionable play, Kagawa never managed to make himself a part of the starting XI with United. His control and excellent passing accuracy could be a big asset for the German club, as Kagawa is likely looking to make a bigger impact in order to see more playing time.

With only a few days remaining in the transfer window, van Gaal is likely to push for Kagawa’s trade, as his attention is focused on other midfielders. Arturo Vidal heads that list, but he must also focus on assimilating Angel di Maria into the squad in an attempt to try and make United top four contenders after a poor start to their 2014-2015 season.
