Shane Long Linked With £12million Move to Southampton, Says Report

Hull City forward Shane Long has been linked with a move to Southampton for a fee of £12million, reports Sky Sports News anchor Jim White.

Long, 27, only moved to Hull City in the January transfer window this year, and has netted 4 times in 15 games during his time at the KC Stadium. His fee at the time was £7million as he came in alongside Croatian Nikica Jelavic in a bid to keep The Tigers in the Premier League.

Shane Long has enjoyed spells at Reading and West Brom during his career, but has failed to ever hit a double digit scoring tally in the top flight of English football. However, his ability to create space for teammates and his notorious hard work have gained many plaudits over his career. His £12million transfer would follow Fraser Forster’s arrival from Celtic, as Southampton look to replenish their depleted squad.

Southampton have suffered heavy personnel losses this summer with Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Calum Chambers all leaving St Mary’s for larger clubs in England this summer. Ronald Koeman now seems to be using these funds to support moves to replace these stars.
