Programming Updates from Setanta

It’s been a hectic few weeks for the folks at the North American division of Setanta Sports, based in San Francisco. And it’s getting even busier.

Here are the latest developments:

  1. In answer to a question from an EPL Talk reader, most — if not all — live Premiership matches shown by Setanta will be replayed again on the channel either same day, or short delay. Important to note is that these games are exclusive to Setanta.
  2. For DirecTV subscribers who don’t have Setanta Sports, the satellite provider will be showing a free preview of Setanta this weekend on channel 615 beginning at 6am ET on Saturday through 6am ET on Monday, August 20.
  3. As mentioned in the EPL Talk Podcast interview with Setanta Sports, the channel will be showing Euro 2008 qualifiers. Setanta is currently awaiting confirmation of how many, and the running order of these matches — including the possibility of showing some of the England away matches.
  4. In the UK and Ireland, Setanta is putting the pressure on Sky Sports. Setanta recently lured Sky Sports presenter Paul Dempsey to Dublin. For those of us in the US, we’ll presumably be seeing Dempsey in action during the half-time shows of some of the Premiership matches shown by Setanta. According to The Guardian newspaper, Dempsey could be the first of many acquisitions of Sky talent to Setanta.
