Photos of England Home Shirt Leaked

Here it is. One of the biggest secrets in football during the past few months has been leaked, a picture of England’s new home shirt..

Modeled by John Terry, the new England shirt designed and manufactured by Umbro features a traditional white collar. The shirt is influenced by a photograph of Bobby Moore wearing an England shirt from 1966. Umbro wanted a new shirt design that exuded confidence, looked smart and gave England players a psychological advantage in games.

One of the concepts behind the England shirt is that it’s tailored to fit rather than having just the usual shirt sizes of XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL. It’ll be available with different chest sizes from 34 to 50 inches. To determine your chest size, take measurements under armpits, around fullest part of chest and shoulder blades.

Another unique aspect of the England shirt is the team crest, which has been redesigned and features the name of the opponent on each shirt as a mark of respect. The first time England will wear the new football shirt will be this Saturday against Slovakia in the friendly at Wembley.

Also pictured is David James who is modeling the new England goalkeeper shirt, which is a traditional green.

So what do you think of the new England shirt? Personally I think it’s a thing of beauty. It’s a return to a classic, simple design that is in complete contrast to the flashy Adidas designs for international shirts. In life, most things go full circle. And in this example, the design of a football shirt has done just that by returning to its roots. Sure, it looks like a polo shirt but the crest is elegant and makes it stand out from a crowd. To me, this is an instant classic and full credit must go to Umbro on a job well done.
