Martin Jol Rues Fulham's Lack of Financial Resources After Defeat to Cardiff: Nightly Soccer Report

Fulham manager Martin Jol is under pressure at Craven Cottage after supporters again chanted “Jol out,” this time on Saturday after the Cottagers lost to Cardiff City.

Jol didn’t mince his words regarding the criticism:

“I can’t criticize them. They pay their money to watch us and express their feelings. I could easily say ‘bugger off’, but I won’t do that. I can understand the criticism, but they should realize that we are 20th in the table in spending money.”

During the summer transfer window, Fulham brought in seven new players, spending a total of £8million in the window. While Jol’s argument rings true, it doesn’t escape the fact that the Fulham side should be playing much better than they are. They still have a good first team on paper. And they should beat Cardiff City.

Luckily for Jol, his team’s next fixtures are against Stoke City and Crystal Palace — teams that Fulham should beat. Or else.
