Mark Stein, Stoke City Legend: Friday Flashback Videos

This week’s edition of Friday Flashback Videos features a collection of goal highlights starring Mark Stein. The goals, from the 1992-93 season, show how talented this Stoke City striker was. Stein scored an incredible 52 league goals in just 89 league appearances for the club. The player also played at Chelsea, Luton Town, Oxford, QPR and other clubs.

The video was suggested by EPL Talk reader (and Stoke City supporter) IanCransonsKnees. Here’s what he wrote about Stein:

“A legend at Stoke, Mark Stein is revered as ‘the Golden One’ by the Stoke support to this day. Signed from Oxford reserves, slow and overweight, turned into this goal machine by Lou Macari in the early 1990s. I’d love to read EPL Talk readers views on the goals and what he’d be worth now if he was playing.

We used to run passed the bookies (betting shop) he frequented on our school runs and used to bang on the window chanting his name, until our teacher caught up and bollocked us.

Worth watching, my favourite is at 47 seconds but the best two are probably saved until last given who they are scored past and against.”
