Liverpool vs. Arsenal: Predicted lineups and team news

CYhLeexWEAEXze8
The biggest the Premier League’s 21st round sees Liverpool host league-leading Arsenal at Anfield on Wednesday.

The Reds have been very inconsistent under Jurgen Klopp and drew on Friday away to lowly Exeter City in the FA Cup, adding a replay fixture to an already packed January schedule, much to Klopp’s displeasure. Liverpool are also hit with many injuries which has stalled their top-four challenge,  but there are still only six points separating them from fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal on the other hand are in good form and followed up a scrappy 1-0 against Newcastle with a 3-1 win over struggling Sunderland at the weekend. The Gunners have not been too convincing in away games recently, with their last win away from home coming October at Aston Villa. They were walloped 4-0 at Southampton in their previous away league match.

Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger’s men remain the favorites to come away with all three points come Wednesday against an inconsistent and injury-hit Liverpool side.

Team News

Liverpool are without at least 11 players coming into this game, with Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren, Daniel Sturridge, Phillippe Coutinho, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Jon Flanagan, Divock Origi, Jordan Henderson, Jordon Ibe and Jordan Rossiter all ruled out of this fixture. Kolo Toure should be fit enough to make the starting XI, but fellow central defender Mamadou Sakho is doubtful.

Arsenal also have a couple of injury worries with Tomas Rosicky, Danny Welbeck, Francis Coquelin, Santi Carzola and Jack Wilshere all sidelined. Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini will be available for selection, but Alexis Sanchez remains out as he continues his recovery from a hamstring problem.
