FOX Sports has acquired the English-language TV rights to the 2017 and 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments, the network announced today.

The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which will be played in the United States in July 2017, will feature the United States and Mexico as the two automatically qualified nations. It’s expected that an additional 10 teams will qualify, which will include Canada.

The Gold Cup is the CONCACAF’s biennial premier event crowning the top men’s national soccer team of North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

“The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the crown jewel of national team soccer competitions in North America,” said FOX Sports Head of Business Operations David Nathanson. “By extending our partnership with CONCACAF through the 2019 tournament, not only will we extend our coverage of the U.S. and Mexican Men’s National Teams, but further, we’ll be able to tie that narrative to the team that represents CONCACAF in the 2021 FIFA Confederation Cup, airing across the FOX Sports family of networks.”

The Gold Cup produces the regional champion that then advances to the FIFA Confederations Cup. The 2015 champion Mexico, by way of defeating the 2013 champion United States in the CONCACAF Cup playoff match, televised on FS1 last year, advanced to the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia. The FIFA Confederations Cup, traditionally held the year before every FIFA World Cup in that tournament’s host nation, will be exhibited next summer across FOX Sports’ portfolio of networks.

The Spanish-language TV rights to the 2017 Gold Cup have been acquired by Univision. beIN SPORTS has the rights to the next Copa America.
