FIFA Confirms Goal-Line Technology Will be Used at Next Summer's World Cup in Brazil: The Daily EPL

FIFA is finally making a positive step in the game with the announcement that they will have goal-line technology in place for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

“After a successful implementation of Goal-Line Technology (GLT) at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December 2012, FIFA has decided to use GLT at the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil,” said FIFA in a statement.

In pure FIFA style, they’ve decided to put the bid out to tender instead of choosing one of the two technologies (HawkEye and GoalRef), who have been working closely with FIFA for years. Is it a money grab by FIFA or due diligence? What do you think? Whatever the case, at least technology is finally coming into the game.
