Chelsea Sign Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer On A Free Transfer For One Season

Chelsea have signed goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer on a one-year deal.

The Australian international has joined the Blues on a free transfer after recently leaving Fulham due to Maarten Stekelenburg becoming the starting goalkeeper at Craven Cottage.

The 40-year old goalkeeper is a good piece of business for Chelsea who need an reliable backup to first-team goalkeeper Petr Cech. As we saw during Chelsea’s post-season friendly against Manchester City, Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman isn’t ready for first team football.

What’s your opinion about Schwarzer joining Chelsea? And does he have what it takes to be a reliable goalkeeper if Cech is injured or needs resting this upcoming season? Have your say in the comments section below.
