Belgium Cancels Closed-Door Friendly Against USA Due to Logistical Reasons

Belgium manager Marc Wilmots has canceled the closed-door friendly with the United States due to logistical reasons, according to Goal.com.

The US Men’s National Team were scheduled to play Belgium on Thursday in Brazil as preparation for the game against Ghana on Monday. Instead the US will conduct two training sessions against Sao Paulo FC where the team is training.

According to Goal.com, “It appears the scrimmage is one of the first consequences of a transport strike in World Cup host nation Brazil, with Belgium coach Marc Wilmots telling the Associated Press earlier Wednesday that he ‘will not take the risk to go to Sao Paulo, looking at the possibility of a strike and traffic jams. I don’t want to sit in a bus for five hours.'”
