Bayern Munich Promise To Never Sack Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola is still in the early stages of preparing for his second season as manager of Bayern Munich. His first season saw the former Barcelona boss win the Bundesliga title, DFB-Pokal, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Although the Bavarians fell short of repeating their Champions League successes of 2012-13, confidence remains high at the club and Guardiola has been given even more assurance that there will be no abrupt ending to his tenure at the German club.

While taking a year “sabbatical” in New York, Bayern Munich announced in January 2013 that Guardiola would take over as manager of the Bundesliga giants, replacing Jupp Heynckes.

Earlier today, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge gave a brief interview to a German newspaper, Die Welt, proclaiming that his 43-year-old manager would have a job at his club “for life”.

“Bayern will never dismiss Pep Guardiola,” he stated. “I give you that in writing.”

“We have two perfect years behind us, won eight titles, and some have the icing on the cake with the World Cup,” he added.

“We are coming into next season, we are as good as ever after a World Cup.”

Bayern Munich are set to play VfL Wolfsburg in the final of the Telekom Cup today.

The club will then set off for a quick tour of the United States where they will play: Chivas Guadalajara (Aug. 1 in New Jersey) and the MLS All Stars (Aug. 7 in Portland); before flying back to Germany to play Borussia Dortmund in the DFL Super Cup on August 13th.
