Chelsea vs PSG; Predicted lineups and team news

chelsea-psg

Chelsea host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 encounter today after the first leg finished 1-1 at the Parc des Princes.

The French side will attempt to banish memories of last season’s quarter-final elimination where a Demba Ba late goal at Stamford Bridge sent Chelsea through to the semis on away goals.

José Mourinho’s team are the in-form side coming into this fixture with eight games unbeaten in all competitions and have won their last two games as well including the Capital One Cup triumph over Tottenham.

PSG, meanwhile, trashed Lens 4-1 in their last match but they have only two wins from their last five games and are placed second on the Ligue 1 table.

Any type of win or a 2-2 score draw (or more) will send Laurent Blanc’s men through while the hosts need just any win or a 0-0 draw to book their place in the quarter finals. A 1-1 draw after 90 minutes will send the tie into extra time.

Team News

Chelsea have no new injury worries with John Obi Mikel the only confirmed absentee after undergoing a knee surgery. Crucially, Nemanja Matic is expected to start after shaking off a knee injury with Mourinho confirming as much in his pre-match press conference.

PSG have the greater selection problems with Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier out of this one while Yohan Cabaye is a doubt. Laurent Blanc has a key decision to make in central midfield on whether to stick with David Luiz or start Thiago Motta but expect a similar team to the first leg, after resting a number of first team players at the weekend.
