Liverpool Midfielder Adam Lallana Set To Miss Six Weeks With A Knee Injury, Says Report

Liverpool supporters will have to wait a little longer for the debut of £23million signing Adam Lallana.

The midfielder has been ruled out for up to six weeks, according to a report, after suffering an injury to his knee during training.

Lallana sustained a knock to his lateral collateral ligament during Liverpool’s training session at Harvard University. The 26-year-old England international was assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff but it is believed that his injury will not require surgery.

He will miss the Premier League club’s opening fixtures against his former side Southampton, Manchester City and Tottenham. The midfielder will also have to sit out England’s Euro 2016 qualifier versus Switzerland.

The former Southampton player was set to make his debut against Olympiacos on Sunday in the Liverpool’s International Champions Cup match at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The hope around Anfield is that Lallana will be fit in time for the start of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League campaign.
