Inter Miami are preparing for one of the most demanding seasons in club history, with the FIFA Club World Cup kicking off in June. For the second half of the 2025 campaign, Lionel Messi could reportedly benefit from a major squad reinforcement orchestrated by David Beckham: the signing of a Champions League winner.

During the winter transfer window, Inter Miami saw the departure of key players such as Leonardo Campana, Matias Rojas, and Diego Gomez, while failing to adequately replace them with top-tier signings. This inactivity in the market has caused frustration within the squad—most notably from Luis Suarez, who voiced concerns over MLS budget constraints limiting squad improvements.

Under new head coach Javier Mascherano, Inter Miami have only suffered one defeat so far—a 1–0 loss to LAFC. Still, the team has struggled with consistency, falling short of replicating the dominant form that defined their previous season. A high-caliber addition this summer could shift the team’s trajectory.

According to The Mirror’s David McDonnell, David Beckham and the Inter Miami front office are preparing to offer Kevin De Bruyne a contract to join the squad this summer. The club is closely monitoring the Belgian midfielder’s situation and would be ready to move once his Manchester City contract expires on June 30.

Beckham’s strategy to lure De Bruyne away from Saudi Arabia

With De Bruyne set to leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024–25 season, speculation has emerged about his next move. The Saudi Pro League is considered a top contender, but Beckham reportedly plans to use a familiar strategy to sway the midfielder toward South Florida.

Similar to the approach used to land stars like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Beckham’s pitch centers around lifestyle—offering De Bruyne and his family a smooth transition and stable home base in Miami. That factor, combined with the allure of the MLS, could tip the scale in Inter Miami’s favor.

While Saudi Arabia has already lured several former City players—including Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, and Riyad Mahrez—the appeal of the MLS and life in the United States could be decisive for De Bruyne.

After nearly a decade at Manchester City, where he won six Premier League titles and a Champions League under Pep Guardiola, De Bruyne has secured his place as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats. Now 33, he could follow in the footsteps of Messi and other stars by continuing his career with Inter Miami.
